Who We Are
Formed in June, 2007 by a group of concerned Landaff, NH residents who saw a need to protect their community and the
lands surrounding them, Woodland Stewards is a grass-roots, community-based organization.
We partner with other organizations to man projects like roadside cleanup days, duck box installations, educational and
outreach initiatives and hiking trail maintenance.
Woodland Stewards, Inc. is a non-profit corporation registered with the State of New Hampshire as a Charitable Trust and is
a tax-exempt Public Charity under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. All contributions to us are deductible
under section 170 of the Code. We are qualified to receive tax deductible bequests, devises, transfers or gifts under section
2055, 2106 or 2522 of the Code.
Our Goal
Our goal is to perpetually preserve valuable natural areas, wildlife habitat and woodland. Different strategies are
used to provide this protection, including easement establishment and the acceptance of land and financial donations.
You can place protections on all or part of your land. In return, you can realize substantial benefits relative to income,
property and inheritance taxes. We then protect the land forever through our Stewardship Program, ensuring compliance
with your wishes for all time. Woodland Stewards relies on tax-deductible donations that provide funds to operate and
acquire land or easements. Donors often provide cash, but it is not uncommon for landowners to donate an easement on their
land, or even the land itself.
Our Programs
We offer three programs for donors and landowners:
Donation Program for financial contributions
Conservation Program for easement establishment
Legacy Program for land gifts
Each program is dedicated to assisting conservation-minded people in contributing to the cause of preserving open, undeveloped space
in the rural North Country of New Hampshire.
